What a wonderful day it is when we can say ‘this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it’ (Ps 118:24)

Of course it is all a matter of choice and I don’t make that statement lightly because I know from personal experience that we might be waking up to another ‘skittle day’.

We all no doubt laugh at the advert for Skittles (confectionery) – have you seen it?  It is quite funny in a ‘mmm’, sort of way.

This guy (we will call him Fred), is sat at work looking very sad when a couple of colleagues come up to him, one says ‘go on show him, go on’.   Fred touches a piece of office equipment that immediately turns to Skittles, everything he touches turns to Skittles.   I just feel so sorry for ‘Fred’.

We can all have skittle days – when everything we ‘touch’ falls apart – but maybe Fred needed to wear gloves, maybe not – no doubt he would probably have had difficulty getting them on!

So often we do not know what to do about situations we face – but this we know – as Christians – we know Someone who does.   Someone who can show us the way out of our predicament.  ‘The Lord is our Shepherd we shall not want …….’ (Ps 23:1)

We can start our day in a declaration that no matter what it holds we can choose to make God our strength and help.

Skittles had a theme from way back of ‘taste the rainbow’ – well you don’t get rainbows without the rain and isn’t it amazing that no matter how hard it might be raining many of us will stop what we are doing to ‘taste the rainbow’ and to take in it’s beauty.

Let us refresh ourselves today with a ‘rainbow of promises’ from God’s word and enjoy the wonderful taste of an abundant life in Christ Jesus.
