Passionately in love with Jesus – passionately in love with His word. Part 3

• Let us remember from last month……………………. 

Jesus never spoke an idle word – every word He spoke had purpose and direction, every word was designed to bring life.

• Let us remember – Jesus is coming back – and by the state of the world it won’t be long 

Sometimes our focus gets a little side tracked onto the ‘day to day’ line of life, and yes people need help showing, teaching and leading them through the challenges they face and we must be sure to do that’

But we need to remember we have a job to do and that is to prepare people for eternity, leading people to Jesus Christ, making disciples.  ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’

That authority is now with us – it is in our hands.

Jesus always had purpose, He dealt with everyday issues but from an eternity perspective.

The issue with Samaritan woman, the rich young ruler – being examples.

People need to know the truth – because it is the truth that sets us free.   We cannot ‘pussy foot’, as the saying goes.

We pussy foot in church with allowing sex before marriage, are ‘liberated’ to accept single sex liaisons, tolerate all manner of sin but God is not impressed, we only need to look in His word to know His feelings in these matters.

There is a great need to teach the fear of the Lord.   We will all stand before God one day and will be called to give a personal account of all we have done.

Scary stuff to think on – are we doing all we should be?   Are we really preparing people to meet their God face to face?

To love the Lord is to do His will and that is not just all the sweet and lovely but it is also correcting, and leading people into the whole truth – in love – how privileged we are to be co-workers with Him – to be entrusted by Him with the most important role we will ever have.   One day to hear those wonderful words – ‘Well done my good and faithful servant’.   Wow!

Let us be about our Fathers business.
