Change – I looked up the meaning of this word – change.
Among its meanings are words like – alteration, amendment, adjustment, revolution(wow), modification – but the word I like the best is ‘transformation’.
- Favourite toys belonging to my son when he was little were his ‘transformers’ – he would spend hours changing the metal figures into cars or planes and back again, fascinated by the transformation as his little fingers worked away.
- At our church ladies day in March we had ‘An afternoon of beauty’ with the inspiring background of Esther – wonderful book in the O.T. – worth a regular read. We had a great fun time coming away ‘transformed’ not only in our looks but in our thoughts and attitudes.
After watching, for the second time, an Amazing DVD – Metamorphose – ‘transformation’ took on an entirely different dimension. – I would highly recommend putting this DVD at the top of your ‘to watch list’.
It, as you can imagine, features the butterfly. How much we take for granted without delving in that little bit deeper to understand what an amazing transformation the humble caterpillar makes.
The caterpillar has to virtually self-destruct, it has to die to self, in order to fulfil its purpose and be transformed into the beautiful butterfly that we take great delight in. A caterpillar fulfils it life span – then makes itself a protective covering to metamorphose, emerging in a completely different format – unrecognisable from its humble beginning. Without transformation the caterpillar cannot recreate, only as a butterfly can the species live.
What about us? We start our life not knowing Jesus – but at the right time – we become enfolded in His wonderful protective arms. As we allow Him to work on us we too emerge totally transformed – staggering – amazing – stunningly changed, transformed. Full of life with a zest for living life to the full. Change is an inevitable part of life – why not make it for the better.
Make Today Count if you are still a ‘caterpillar’ and don’t know Jesus – make the change – ask Him into your life – you will emerge totally transformed.
Dear God, Thank you that you love me and want the very best for me in every situation. I’m sorry for ignoring you and doing things my own way. (The bible says we have sinned and have fallen short of God’s best). Thank you Jesus that you came and gave your life for me. Please forgive me and help me as I decide to live my life for You. Amen.
