Dear Pastors and Leaders

God looks to eternity – we often look to lunch.

I took some pictures from an aeroplane one day as I was journeying across the Rift Valley in Kenya – absolutely stunning – overawed at the vantage point I had, I drank in the amazing vista laid out before me.   I could see some familiar roads I had previously travelled and others I was unaware that existed.

What a privileged position to be in.   The terrain all mapped out below me, I could see which roads would be clear to travel, the mountains and lakes and the roads which just seemed to fade away in the middle of nowhere.

It made me think – how blessed we are that we have an all seeing, all knowing God at our helm and how silly we would be to try to make our journey through life without listening to Him and following His direction.

God has the overall picture of where He wants His church to go – the map has been written – He looks to the end of the journey – to eternity – Jesus said – ‘ I will build My church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.’ (Matthew 16:18)

Amazingly God knows the struggles we face before we encounter them, He is taking His church through the muddy puddles of life and with Him as our guide we are destined to be His victorious church.

We need to keep our perspective on eternity, ensuring the church’s eyes are not focused on short term projects – important as they may be; adverse circumstances and attacks – challenging as they are, or our own ability.

Let’s make sure we point people to live their lives through God’s perspective – with eternity in mind.
