Dear Pastors & Leaders
I have been looking at some of the prayers and instructions laid out in the bible – here are just a couple………………………
The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6)
Jesus’s prayer for His disciples and for all believers (John 17)
My thoughts went to the sincerity of these prayers………. In one Jesus teaches how to pray and in the other, what to pray for. Incredible in that Jesus knew and knows the hearts of all men – He knew for instance that Peter would deny Him.……. yet He knew the outcome of that denial.
We can pray for people but…………………
Is the but in our own understanding?
Never in Jesus’s prayer was anything uttered in His own understanding. All things He did and said were from the Father.
He was so tuned into His Father – they were One – when Jesus spoke it was as the Father spoke – therefore He was certain of the outcome. There was never ‘well we will wait and see’.
Praying that we might be one with the Father as He; what a place to be in. No matter how close we are to God – there is still a closer place to be – that we might only speak and act through Him.
May we all draw closer to the Father, living our lives through Jesus Christ more fully this month.
Have a really blessed month.
Every blessing
Barbara
