Love

Well – today is a beautiful day – the sun is shining and sitting in the warmth of it blazing through my dining room window I am so encouraged that spring is almost here.

Regardless of what is going on in our lives we feel so much ‘better’ when the sun is shining and the birds are singing, it is easier to look at life with a greater sense of excitement and expectation – and the thought that well, life is not so bad after all.

We look at and respond to people in a different way, walking along the street with a spring in our step and a smile on our face – even greeting folk we don’t know with a cheerful ‘good morning.’ Today – the world is a wonderful place.

But the sun does not always shine – and tomorrow the rain clouds could loom dark and large, and, when that happens we become un noticing of others and the beauty around, hiding under our umbrellas of gloom.

We don’t notice the smile, kind word or deed extended to us, and if we do notice, it can be wrapped in misunderstanding, as we hide in our own world of drenched uncertainty. What does the future hold, how am I going to survive let alone live. How I wish……. Why can’t…..Why did….. You know the questions, doubts and fears that arise – when the sun is not shining.

Yet Today Counts it is the day the Lord has made – and whether the rain pours or the sun shines, Jesus is still the same and He is still around. In fact, He promises to never leave or forsake us.

He is at the other end of the line when a friend calls to say hello, or the card that arrives through our letterbox letting us know someone is thinking about us. He is in the smile from a stranger holding the door open for us and the hardly noticed flower bursting into bloom in the hedgerow.

Today really is a wonderful day, let’s dare open our eyes to see and appreciate its beauty.

Regardless of how much of life does not seem to be in our favour at times – I want to encourage you with the life giving knowledge that someone really loves you – and that someone is Jesus. If you need someone to share your pain, your joys with – Jesus is always available 24/7. And you know what? – we don’t have to be perfect or prove ourselves to gain His love and attention – we have already got that – it was a free gift already given to us.

Today Counts and really is the first day of the rest of your life – have a wonderful day – and make it one you repeat for the rest of the month.
