I was able to spend three to four days at the centre with my friends, Peter and Selpher Matua, directors of the project,   and also with the babies they currently have in residence – the number fluctuates continually as permanent homes are found for the babies.

During my stay there were just four babies being cared for, two of whom are in the process of being adopted by Kenyan families; beautiful little girls who had responded so well to being at the home now with new ‘mums and dads’ eager to welcome them into their lives.

One child really touched my heart, she had arrived at the centre just a few days before my visit – just 14 months old and weighing only 4 kg,   she came from a disabled epileptic single parent who had difficulties in raising her and had been referred to Baby Life through the hospital social workers.   She is due to return to her mother when she gains sufficient weight and her condition improves.   A hard case to deal with for Peter & Selpher who are concerned that the mother will still not be able to cope with the young child on her return – your prayers would be welcomed.
